We're delighted to announce a very special edition of the next C++ Meetup, a weekend Hackathon on Saturday the 22nd July.

Following our last event in March and listening to the feedback, we wanted to bring something a little different to everyone than the usual format.

Come and join us for C++ coding to build an Android mobile app

Have you ever heard that there is the possibility to include C++ code in your Android apps? It sounds pretty interesting to have the possibility to extend part of your C++ code on such a popular and widespread mobile platform like Android, doesn't it?

The Android NDK is a toolset that lets you implement parts of your app in native code, using languages such as C and C++. Through a pre-configured VMWare environment we will put you in the condition to try to develop an Android app including C++ code. You will be given a 64-bit Ubuntu-based virtual machine [VM] with all the tools and a baked reference example which makes use of OpenCV library so to save you the time for the setup and let you have more time to develop. Additional details will be given in the documentation provided on the day of the challenge

The sample provided can be used as starting point for another OpenCV-based app or it can be inspirational for a total different one. This will be completely up to you and your daring :) Once your Android app will be ready you will discover how fast and easy is to apply our Quixxi security layer [seconds!]. This will allow you to protect your brand new app [and code!] against different threats - e.g. anti-reverse engineering and anti-tampering - making you have a higher control on your intellectual property and a safer customer experience

Get ready to join us and add new skills to your portfolio!

Minimum requirements - in order to have more time available for your project we strongly suggest to be sure that the laptop used to develop the project by each team will have the following minimum requirements:

We’re really excited to be partnering with Lakeba (https://lakeba.com/) who will be sponsoring their awesome space for this event in Manly (a 2 minute walk from Manly Wharf).

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. We'll be starting at 9.30am with beers and awards afterwards to celebrate the winners and everyone's involvement.
