September C++

Details
Hi All,
We're very excited to announce our September Meetup, big thanks to Snapchat for hosting!
Keynote - James Mitchell
James is a speaker at the upcoming Pacific++ Conference next month and a Senior Software Engineer at Wargaming Sydney with over 15 years’ experience using C++. For the last 6 years, he has been building high performance distributed server technology, including BigWorld Technology the online game engine used to power many of Wargaming's titles, including World of Tanks, World of Warships, and World of Warplanes.
Title: I'm falling in love with Globals
Abstract: Think global variables are always bad? Do you fight with dependency injection, context objects, singletons, etc? We will look at why global variables have such a bad rap, and why I believe they still deserve a seat at the table.
Talk 2 - Samuel Marks
Samuel Marks' PhD focuses on facilitating large-scale screening programmes through: Artificial Intelligence; biomedical engineering, eLearning and epidemiology. He expects to screen most of the world's population in the next 5 years. To facilitate this—self-funded, patentless and open-source—endeavour, he runs an infrastructure and research focused software-engineering consultancy.
Title: Go containing with C in C++, Docker, Moby
Abstract: Resource constrained? - C and C++—with `-Os`—produce small binaries with minimal CPU & RAM footprints. When your use-case requires large numbers of Docker containers, the image itself needs serious optimisation. This talk will demonstrate a number of small C utilities, C++ and how our Go-written distributed system fits into the mix.
Really excited to see everyone there!
