About us
Founded in 2014, Syndicate Saber United has striven to incorporate the time honored traditions of martial sword mastery with a fun, casual and safe atmosphere for both sci-fi sword game-play and for thrilling stage performances.
We work deeply to ensure a fun, safe and welcoming environment for all our members. We close every practice with an affirmation that we are family, and we abide by that as our core principle.
Together we seek to better the community around us and bring the magic of thrilling experiences to everyone we may share it with. Whether it’s learning how to fight with a saber for fun and games, or bringing the experience of facing a true dark lord in a thrilling conclusion to an epic on-stage multi-year, multi-media story line, we are fans looking to share the love of our art with anyone excited to join us in the journey however you'd like!
If you want to drop in to try your hand you're more than welcome, and we provide many opportunities to participate however you wish. Some show up occasionally for a fun, casual night with friends. Others spend years immersing themselves in sword-play to become an expert at sword combat of any style, or learning a mastery of on-stage performances and providing rich immersive experiences to a crowd of thousands. Others bring their film making expertise and passion to create epic fan-films. Choose whatever path you wish, we'll be here to support you! And if you have a unique experience you want to share with us, we'd love to for you to add to the richness of our pool of experience.
Syndicate Saber United is a group formed by fans for fans. It is not affiliated or endorsed by Lucasfilm Ltd. but follows generally accepted ground rules for Star Wars fan groups.

Tempe Saber Practice
Corbell Park, 7300 South Lakeshore Drive, Tempe, Ar, USLocation is Corbell Park in Tempe! Meetup attendance is non-indicative of actual attendance, we usually have 10-15 people show up.
We are Syndicate Saber United Tempe chapter! We teach the basics of sword fighting similar to fencing, kendo, or longsword and then use those skills to play games like Capture the Flag or Team Deathmatch. We also go over choreography and performance basics and invite you to take part in any of our many appearances and performances across Arizona! Participate as you wish, no obligation beyond what you want to take part in, and no membership fees or dues, ever.
Requirements: Members must be 14+ with parent or guardian signature and presence throughout practice, 16+ with parent or guardian signature, or 18+ of your own volition. We require closed toed shoes, and highly recommend protective/armored gloves. We will have you sign a release of liability waiver at the beginning when joining as well. We have plenty of loaner sabers available, and we actually recommend you take advantage of the loaners to get a sense of what to look for before you buy! But any combat grade saber will do if you already have one, though we do have basic requirements around that. Note: we do not recommend using your saber you might have bought at the parks since we don’t want to damage it, and they don’t hold up to combat or choreography!
All it takes is showing up! If you are new, we will start off training and going over rules and safety guidelines, some light sparring to get to know other members, and from there you’re free to participate in whatever you want! See you there!
