What Should Be The Limits On Freedom? Let's Talk About John Stuart Mill

Details
How much freedom should we have? Is it enough if we just agree to leave each other alone? Should (or should there not) be limits on free speech? Join us as we discuss John Stuart Mill’s influential work “On Liberty,” an essay arguing for the defense of individual freedom in democratic societies, and one of the most influential works ever written on political philosophy.
Mill argues that people should be free to live the way they want, provided they don’t harm other people. And he fiercely defended free speech, seeing it as the best avenue to truth, freedom, and happiness. Whether or not you agree with him, I believe it’s crucially important we examine his ideas and arguments for ourselves. I have a feeling this will be a lively debate!
For those with time to read the text, it’s not too long: only 112 pages in my copy of the Oxford World’s Classics edition. It’s also available online here (and in many other places): [https://eet.pixel-online.org/files/etranslation/original/Mill,%20On%20Liberty.pdf ](https://eet.pixel-online.org/files/etranslation/original/Mill,%20On%20Liberty.pdf)
A pretty good overview on Youtube can be found here (but feel free to find any Youtuber you like):

If you don’t have time to read or watch, that’s perfectly fine, I’ll introduce each of his ideas for the discussion as we go.
Happy Thinking and See You There!
