Time for the first meetup of the year!

This time we are hosted by ARC Arise Consulting, and the event will take place in person in their office in central Stockholm.

Schedule:
You can arrive at 18:00. Talks will start at around 18:30. The last talk will end around 20:00. You are welcome to stay and mingle until 20:30.

Here are the talks of the evening:

  • Back to basics
Martin Lexelius, frontend developer at Authority AB
Fond rant about our most beloved but misused form control: the text input.

  • Challenges in working with accessibility from a content perspective
Frida Åstrand Melin, communication consultant at Curious Mind (a part of ARC)
Which problems do we encounter, what skills are needed and are there any simple solutions?

  • Refactoring a Design System Component
Andrea Berglund, Frontend developer and Accessibility Specialist
Emma Palmgren, UX and Accessibility specialis
During our three years working on the Design System at the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) one of our challenges have been to make all components accessible. Through research and usability testing we discovered that one of our most used components needed some refactoring. Now we're giving some lessons learned from our journey.

  • Why should I certify myself? How does IAAP make the certification exams accessible?
Alberto Hylander, EU Project Coordinator at IAAP EU
Malin Hammarberg, Head of Accessibility & Usability at Sigma Technology, Gothenburg
In this presentation, Malin Hammarberg will explain the reasons why she decided to obtain an IAAP certification and how it led to both increase her confidence in her role and win exciting projects with new clients. Also, Alberto Hylander will present how the certifications work in practical terms, as well as how the IAAP works with accessibility during examinations.

Food:
We will be serving food and drinks. Food will be vegan/vegetarian. If you have any preferences when it comes to food or drinks let us know! A private message to Ida Franceen is preferred. But if it feels complicated just put it in a comment to this meetup.

Accessibility:
All speakers will use a microphone. There are elevators on the right side going to the 4th floor where the meetup takes place. All presenters are asked to describe their presentations.
We are aware that accessibility issues are diverse and there might be a problem that we are not aware of. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to us.

Photography:
It's ok to take photos of our speakers and the things they present on stage. But please ask before taking photos of other attendees and never post anything online or elsewhere without permission.

Safety and inclusion:
We have a Code of Conduct that we expect everyone to follow.

Video:
The event is in person and there will be no live-stream. But we are going to post videos of the talks afterwards.
Subscribe to our Youtube channel so you don't miss them!

Svenska:
Alla dragningar på scen kommer att vara på engelska. Om du känner dig obekväm med engelska så är du självklart välkommen ändå!
Det kommer att finnas gott om människor att prata svenska med.
