t12t meetup - Post Global Accessibility Awareness Day at Kivra
Details
Welcome to our GAAD meetup!
We usually do a meetup in relation to the Global Acessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). This year GAAD is on a Swedish Holiday so we decided to have our event the week after instead.
We are hosted by Kivra and the event will take place in person at their office in central Stockholm.
Schedule:
You can arrive at 18:00. Talks will start at around 18:30. The last talk will end around 20:00. You are welcome to stay and mingle until 20:30.
- Welcome to Kivra
Janko Luin, iOS Engineer
Janko will talk about Kivra's state of accessibility and the challenges that come with it. - The Ericsson Design System
Laura Moreno, UX Design Lead for the Ericsson Design System
Laura will share the stories and challenges faced by three individuals and how the Ericsson Design System rose to the occasion, incorporating accessibility features for all kind of scenarios and use cases. - Short break
- The power of CodePen - HTML prototyping for screen reader users
Tommy Feldt, UX designer and accessibility specialist at Useit
Tommy will show his method for prototyping and testing web interfaces with visually impaired users and screen readers. By building HTML prototypes you can get crucial early feedback from users with assistive technologies - without having to wait until the end of the project. As a bonus it might open your eyes to the power of semantic code! - Do we really want everything to be accessible?
Reflections from a research wannabe
Emil Erdtman, Doktorand
Food:
We will be serving food and drinks. Food will be vegan and vegetarian. If you have any preferences when it comes to food or drinks let us know! A private message to Ida Franceen is preferred. But if it feels complicated just put it in a comment to this meetup.
Accessibility:
All speakers will use a microphone. There are elevators going to the 6th floor where the meetup takes place. There is a small threshold going in to the space where the meetup will be held. All presenters are asked to describe their presentations.
We are aware that accessibility issues are diverse and there might be a problem that we are not aware of. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to reach out to us.
Photography:
It is ok to take photos of our speakers and the things they present on stage. But please ask before taking photos of other attendees and never post anything online or elsewhere without permission.
Safety and inclusion:
We have a Code of Conduct that we expect everyone to follow.
Video:
The event is in person and there will be a live-stream.
After the event we're going upload videos to our Youtube channel with captions.
Svenska:
Alla dragningar på scen kommer att vara på engelska. Om du känner dig obekväm med engelska så är du självklart välkommen ändå!
Det kommer att finnas gott om människor att prata svenska med.
