Meet other people (of all ages) interested in Okinawa style taiko, buyo (dance), and sanshin. Have an interest in music, practicing Japanese, and/or learning a new cultural dance or drumming? This is the right event for you!
2:00-3:00 everyone but also families with young kids can learn Okinawa taiko
3:00-5:00 learn taiko, dance, or sanshin
5:00-6:00 potluck
The demographic: mostly people with a connection or interest in Okinawa culture. Families with kids that want to meet other families with younger-older kids? Yes! High school/college age that want to learn taiko or Okinawa music? Yes! 30 or 40 something and want to hang out with other people that speak a mix of Japanese, Uchinaaguchi (okinawan language), and English? Yes! Want to hang out with other obaas or ojiis? Yes!
