  • The trail parallels the Pacific Ocean on a paved trail that is 8 feet wide surrounded by Shore Pines (Pinus contorta), Westport Sand Dunes and beach grass (Ammophila breviligulata).
  • The trail does not have shade and can be windy on some days.
  • Estimated average grade category: gentle (3% or less).
  • Accessibility: This trail is accessible for visitors using wheelchairs, mobility equipment, or strollers.
  • The drive to the trailhead is 2 hours from Tacoma.
  • Carpooling is on your own. If you choose to carpool with someone in the group, please be prepared to share in the cost of gasoline and identify if you are walking 2 miles of 4.5 miles. Driver to determine what it will take to fill up their vehicle.
  • Also, if you want to bring a friend to carpool with instead of strangers, you are welcome to add a guest to your registration.
  • Discover Pass is required for each vehicle. There is a pay station at the parking lot.

2 Mile Option:
Once we arrive at the parking lot, we will walk south for 1 mile and turn around to walk back to the parking lot (This is the 2 mile option). At this point, people may return to Tacoma or go to lunch on their own in the town of Westport (marina). I recommend Merino Seafood or Bennet's Fish Shack.

4.5 Mile Option:
For the 4.5 mile option, we will walk south for 2 miles round trip. When we arrive back to the parking lot, we can continue our walk to Bennet's Fish Shack for a later lunch (approximately 1.2 miles). After lunch, we will walk the trail back 1.2 miles to our cars and leave for home.
