About us
Trikaya Zen Center is a small, welcoming Zen practice group in Tacoma offering authentic Soto Zen training in the White Plum lineage of Taizan Maezumi Roshi.
While our group and space are modest, the depth of practice is not—we offer the same curriculum you would find in larger, more established Zen centers, including both koan study and shikantaza (just sitting).
Practice is led by Rich Taido Christofferson Roshi, who has trained in Zen since the 1980s, received dharma transmission in the White Plum lineage, and continues to practice while working a full-time job—bringing a grounded, real-world approach to Zen training.
Our practice is especially suited for people with busy lives. You don’t need to follow a full monastic schedule to develop a steady, meaningful Zen practice—we’re here to support you right where you are.
Whether you’re completely new to meditation or have years of experience, you’re welcome here.
When & Where:
Every Saturday at 10:00 AM
Mason United Methodist Church
Look for the A-frame sign outside the church that says “Zen Sitting Group”—it’s right by our entrance.
What to expect:
- Zazen (seated meditation)
- Optional private interview with the teacher (dokusan)
- A dharma talk
Whether your interest is Zen, Buddhist meditation, mindfulness, or simply developing a steady meditation practice, you’re welcome to join us.
