Batik on Fabric
Details
Batik is an Indonesian technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to the whole cloth. This technique originated from the island of Java, Indonesia.
Join Claire Andre and Cathy to create two (approximately) 12" x 12" batik panels suitable for wall hangings or pillow fronts.
We will be applying hot wax to cotton fabric and then painting on the dye. Then we'll dry the panels and iron out the wax.
Please wear clothes that you don't mind getting wax and dye on. Bring an apron if you like. If you have a tjanting tool, please bring it. We will have a few for you to try out.
All materials and supplies are included.
To register by check rather than PayPal, send an email to Randi Voss or Lorri Andrews and we will add you to the RSVP list. Mail a check made out to Tacoma Arts & Crafts and mail to Lorri Andrews at 8403 147th St Ct E, Puyallup, WA 98375. Payment is requested at least 2 days prior to class.
Due to the preparation time and cost of teaching materials that our teachers provide, we cannot offer a refund if you need to cancel within 48 hours of the class date. Otherwise, we will issue a credit or contact Lorri regarding a refund.
