Opah! 60th Annual Greek Festival at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church!
Hosted by Tacoma Wine, Dine, and Happy Hour
Details
Day 2 of TWDHH's Triple Crown Weekend: Opah! This is the weekend everyone is Greek, Opah! Baklava, Moussaka, Baklava, Gyros, Baklava, Spanakopita, Baklava, Ouzo, Baklava, Greek Beer, Baklava (have I mentioned Baklava yet?) and Wine...Opah!
The festival will be held in the beer tent adjacent to the church; however, a portion of the festival will be in the church, downstairs in the community room. If you wish to have a full course meal, you can do that in the community room. This event fills up quickly, so those who arrive early can save the group tables, please.
The festival tent will have Greek food to eat there and there will be vendors throughout the tent selling Greek products. If you have never been to the Greek Church, there are two ways to get to the festival. Go through the front door of the church (which will then count as attending church for the year), before you reach the chapel take either steps down to the left or right and then follow the crowds.
Those concerned lightning bolts from Zeus might strike them if they approach the entrance of the church; to the left is a set of stairs that lead down to the beer tent. The Greek Festival at the St Nicholas Church is very traditional from the aspect of Greek Orthodox; however, once you enter the beer tent, it then becomes an environment exposing Americans to Greek heritage, customs, food and dancing.
Hope that makes a little sense. Hopefully we will see you at both events. Opah!!!! For those interested: I will take people into the chapel and show an Icon that my mother donated to the church; and explain how the icon came into my family's possession.
