Join TAG Cybersecurity on May 18 @ 7 pm for our monthly meeting. Dr. Carl Willis-Ford, CIS/Cybersecurity Faculty at Whatcom Community College, will present an 'enhanced' book report and facilitate a discussion on ‘Sandworm: A New Era of Cyberwar and the Hunt for the Kremlin’s Most Dangerous Hackers’, by Andy Greenberg. Dr. Willis-Ford teaches at Whatcom Community College in the 2- and 4-year programs in CIS/Cybersecurity. He also volunteers with TAGNW, serving on the Advisory Board, the Membership Committee, and as co-host of the Cybersecurity meetup.
“Lucid and compelling, Sandworm shows us how high-tech warfare is waged today in Eastern Europe: battlefields of computer viruses, software vulnerabilities, and faked digital fingerprints. Where foreign hackers remotely black out cities and feed false election results to television networks. Where laptops become weapons and a word processor becomes a tool to invade a nation’s critical infrastructure. The first half of Greenberg's meticulously researched book leaves us wondering: How long before it happens here? The second provides the chilling answer." —Clifford Stoll, New York Times bestselling author of The Cuckoo's Egg
Carl will start with a presentation giving an overview of the book’s narrative, with information from other sources included, then we’ll have a Q&A/Discussion session where everyone participates. Our monthly agenda includes: Welcome, Introductions, TAG News, Cybersecurity News, Featured Presentation, Q&A, and Open Discussion. All are welcome!
