CLASSICAL TAI CHI: 7:00-8:00pm
New for 2025 … We are offer two complementary, yet distinct, programs. At 6:00, we have TAI CHI AND QIGONG FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS. Ideal for beginners and curiosity seekers but also open to all experience levels, this class is for anyone interested in learning about and experiencing the benefits that tai chi and qigong have to offer without having to learn lengthy and sometimes complicated forms. Tai chi’s slow movements are the trademark of this ancient martial art known for its ability to improve balance, calmness, and relaxation. The curriculum features exercises within what we call the Four Baskets of Practice:
- Movement
- Breath
- Meditation
- Self-Massage
These practices are all aimed at helping you to help yourself improve your overall wellbeing. These practices can improve your daily activities. Tai chi and qigong feature smooth, gentle movements to promote balance, fluidity, strength, calmness, relaxation, and rooting to awaken your inner healer to promote health and vitality. Through these practices, you can develop an internal self-awareness that goes beyond your personal practice to enhance your life. Our curriculum features the Tai Chi EasyTM and Integral Tai ChiTM forms solely developed to help you gain mind-body awareness, along with powerful qigong routines to help you create your own personal practice.
At 7:00, we have CLASSICAL TAI CHI. This class also is for anyone interested in the benefits that tai chi and qigong have to offer while taking a deeper dive into the body mechanics and martial concepts behind the movements. This added emphasis to structure and form enhances the internal energy flow to foster additional fluidity, strength, and rooting. These attributes cross over to enhance daily activities and improve sports performance. Body mechanics also contains powerful qigong movements that lead to improved health and vitality.
Our CLASSICAL TAI CHI curriculum features William C.C. Chen's 60-movement Yang-style form, sword form, body mechanics applications, and push hands. While previous experience in tai chi is recommended, it is not required. Please feel free to discuss your objectives with me, and we'll get you in the appropriate class.
