Weekly Qigong class:
Here we study a method of Qi Gong called Taijiwuxigong. During the class we learn a variety of standing, moving and sitting exercises to activate and develop our vital (Yuanqi) energy, while at the same time letting go of our sick or negative factor (binqi). We are guided in this with the help of the teacher, Andy Henry, who has more than 25 years teaching experience in this field. The exercises use postural work, breathing techniques, mental focus and sometime sound and spontaneous movements. For more information see below.
Taijiwuxigong
Taijiwuxigong is a form of Qigong developed by the late Dr Shen Hongxun( Taiji Grandmaster, Buddhist Lama and Daoist Lineage holder), as a method for self-healing and self development. It uses Daoyin Exercises (simple structured exercises),Postural work, Spontaneous Movement (see below) and Mental focus to activate the Dantian(a chakra in the lower belly), clean the meridian system and expel Binqi, or sick Qi. These methods help to take the participant through eight main stages, starting with the activation of the Dantian, moving on to opening different energy channels (central, front and back and left and right) and progressing onto working with the latent mental functions.
Exercises with Spontaneous Movement
Spontaneous movement is a natural phenomenon of life. It is an internal auto-regulatory mechanism for many body functions and happens at all times. Heartbeat, peristalsis of the digestive organs, breathing, yawning, blinking of the eyelids are only a few examples of the spontaneous movement that continuously takes place on both the inside and the outside of our body. This is called involuntary spontaneous movement, as we have no control over it.
Spontaneous movement does not always have to be involuntary. It is possible to intentionally induce spontaneous movement in order to regulate and optimise the body’s own auto-regulatory mechanism and self-healing function. One key element of spontaneous movement is our body’s cell vibration. Body cells are continuously oscillating in all different directions at all times, thus creating different frequencies in different parts of the body. Unhealthy cells in diseased areas vibrate at a different frequency to healthy cells. Thus it is possible that by influencing the vibration rate of cells, we can change and regulate their frequency and so create favourable conditions for health and healing. Another essential component of spontaneous movement is the vibration of Earth Force. Taijiwuxigong uses different standing, sitting and lying down positions in order to ‘find’ and connect with the Earth Force.
The Teacher:
