Hiking Shelter Dogs with Nassau County Animal Services!

Details
Lucky dog!! 🍀🐾 March Is the month to help a shelter dog find their furever friend! Come out to our St. Patrick’s Day hike at Central Park and walk a shelter dog! 🐶🐾 Be on the lookout for the table with the bright yellow tablecloth in front of the tennis courts on Atlantic. Also, there will be an adoption event with various vendors afterwards right at Central Park so plan on spending some time there afterwards!
A $10 per participant donation is greatly appreciated and will be collected at check-in via cash, check or credit card.
Thank you for your support of our nonprofit organization!
The ASPCA indicates that of the roughly 3.9 million dogs entering shelters per year approximately 31% are euthanized. In some urban areas these numbers run as high as 78%.
Be a part of reducing euthanasia rates by hiking with local homeless hounds! Socialization and exercise can reduce kennel stress and anxiety and improve shelter dog behaviors, thus extending their lives.
Tails of the Trail invite you to hike with shelter dogs for a couple hours of exercise and companionship. We're partnering with Nassau County Animal Services (NCAS) (Animal Shelter | Nassau County - Official Website) and we'll hike the furry pups around town for approximately 2 miles, depending on the temperatures that morning.
Agenda:
8:00a - Arrive at Central Park to sign in and attend our required Volunteer Orientation.
8:15a - Get paired with your furry hiking companion and hit the road! There will be water stations along the way with signs and volunteers throughout the route to guide you.
9:30a - Complete hike with the dogs, cool down, pup portraits and pupuccino treats.
9:45-10:00a - Conclude event and thanks so much for joining us!
