Hiking Shelter Dogs with Nassau Humane Society!

Details

There really are some lucky dogs, it’s a two-fer this month! We are going to meet at NHS at noon and walk as many pups as we can! ☘️🐶🐾 Please enter through the front door at the shelter and the staff will direct you to the courtyard.

A $10 per participant donation is greatly appreciated and will be collected at check-in via cash, check or credit card.
Thank you for your support of our nonprofit organization!
The ASPCA indicates that of the roughly 3.9 million dogs entering shelters per year approximately 31% are euthanized. In some urban areas these numbers run as high as 78%.
Be a part of reducing euthanasia rates by hiking with local homeless hounds! Socialization and exercise can reduce kennel stress and anxiety and improve shelter dog behaviors, thus extending their lives.

Tails of the Trail invite you to hike with shelter dogs for a couple hours of exercise and companionship. We're partnering with Nassau Humane Society (NHS) (Home - Nassau Humane Society) and we'll hike the furry pups around town for approximately 2 miles, depending on the temperatures that morning.

Agenda:
12:00p - Arrive at NHS to sign in and attend our required Volunteer Orientation.
12:15p - Get paired with your furry hiking companion and hit the road! There will be water stations along the way with signs and volunteers throughout the route to guide you.
1:30p - Complete hike with the dogs, cool down, pup portraits and pupuccino treats.
1:45-2:00p - Conclude event and thanks so much for joining us!

What to bring:
• You may bring guests but only one (1) dog per RSVP.
• Waitlisted participants are encouraged to join in the FUN though will not be guaranteed a dog to walk.
