A little bit of a workout. Big hill up to the observation deck with a spectacular view of Meramec River. Expect mud if it's been raining. Hopefully, it will be frozen for this one.

We'll take a bit of a "where's the trail?" route back down, it has some good views and we sometimes have to stop and look for the trail Can't get lost, but there will be brush and some burrs.

About 3 miles total. Allow 2.5 hours. We goof off a lot.

This is not a power hike, we don't do that. Casual pace, about 2 mph.

BRING WATER FOR YOUR DOG! There is a creek near the parking lot, but the rest of this is a big hill.

Bad cell reception at parking lot, know before you go.
No bathrooms, stop in Eureka if you need to.

We hit the trail promptly at 10:00, with or without you. Plan to arrive early and be ready to go by then. Allow 20 minutes from Eureka.

HIKING BOOTS REQUIRED FOR SAFETY.
POLES ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

Meetup mapping is good, pin is in the right spot. Your GPS might not take you to the right place. Check it before you go.

From 44/109 in Eureka....take 109 south out of Eureka to Hwy FF. There is a light and you will see a subdivision ahead called Windswept (I think). Turn right on FF, go about 3-4 miles to small parking lot on right.

PLEASE PARK SENSIBLY. It's a very small lot and can fill up before we leave, so please try to leave as much room as possible for others.
