Fire up the dogs and take your ibuprofen. It's time to do some real hiking.

One of our more difficult trails, there's nothing level here at all. Up the Flint Quarry Trail to the picnic table, then back down the Chubb. Total of about 4.5 miles, but there is a shortcut if you want to keep it to about 3 or 3.5 miles.

It's rough, rugged and just a beautiful trail. You'll be tired when we finish. Our pace won't be fast, and we will stop whenever necessary to water the dogs and catch our breath.

HIKING BOOTS REQUIRED FOR SAFETY.
POLES VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

Bring plenty of water for the dogs and yourself, there is absolutely none on the trail. We'll pause at the picnic table at the top of the hill before heading back down. Even the downhill is rough in spots.

Cell service is iffy here, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

Use meetup mapping or GPS for West Tyson Park.

Hwy 44 to Lewis Road exit, just before Eureka and about 6 miles west of 141. Turn right at stopsign for about 1,000 feet to right into West Tyson Park. We will meet at the Flint Quarry Trailhead.

ONCE INSIDE THE PARK, take the fork to the right to end of road. There is a bathroom just before the parking lot.

If you end up in the upper parking lot by the pavilion, you're in the wrong spot.
