**9:30 startup time*** DOG HIKE/BLUEBELL HUNT at St Francois State Park
Details
Some of us will be camping this weekend. But, as usual, we will have a Saturday morning hike for campers and non-campers. We will gather at the campground and drive to the trailhead. You don't have to camp to come on the hike.
Time is approximate, we don't always leave the campground at a specific time. That's what campouts are for .... just winging it. We're usually pretty close to specified time, but be flexible. If you want to join the hike, be at the campground by 9:00. Bring your own coffee and breakfast snacks.
TIME CHANGE: Startup for hike changed to 9:30, so we can get parking spots. Several other meetup groups are scheduled here at 10:00. If you want to just meet us at the Mooner's Hollow Trailhead, comment below and be there by 9:30. Otherwise, be at campground by 9:00.
***THERE IS NO CELL SERVICE AT CAMPGROUND, SO LET US KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING BY FRIDAY MORNING 9:00 A.M.***
PARKING: We'll post specific sites when we know. You'll have to park in our sites, there are no "parking areas" for extra vehicles here,
We will do the Mooner's Hollow Trail, but will walk it in the reverse direction and hit the creek last. This is one of the best trails in the area for bluebells. Hopefully we hit it on the right weekend.
Some of our people will be rock hunting in the creek, so be prepared for that. Lots of really cool sparkly rocks in this creek. If you get tired of playing in the water, you can head back on your own. There are several other trails in this park.
Part of the trail is normal dirt trail in the woods. The section along the creek is rocky and footing is tricky in spots.
HIKING BOOTS REQUIRED FOR SAFETY. Several creek crossings.
POLES RECOMMENDED. Parts of trail are rough walking.
This park is about 53 minutes from Valley Park (141/44) down Hwy 55, before Farmington. Use your GPS or meetup mapping
ONCE INSIDE THE PARK: Follow signs to campground, it's way in the back. We will drive to the trailhead from campground.
