From Alltrails:
Explore this 5.8-mile loop trail near Valmeyer, Illinois. Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 51 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, running, and walking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The trail is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash.
This is a beautiful trail, but there is a ginormously steep hill at the very beginning that is not for the faint of heart.
There is a turn off that will take you back to the parking lot that can shorten this to ~3 miles, if anyone doesn't feel up to the whole 6 miles.
Requirements:
Attitude: Friendly dogs and humans only
Recommended Gear: Hiking boots and poles, snacks
Dog necessities and plenty of water
Notable Side Notes:
I am not a travel guide. Safety is super important, so please know your limits and be careful on the trails.
This will not be a power hike. We stop frequently for pictures and general shenanigans. We will hike at a pace the group is comfortable with, with no pup left behind.
Please do not be a no-show. RSVP's close an hour before the event. Please update your RSVP before that time.
