A Historical Overview: Five Script Styles

Learning calligraphy is not just about repeatedly practicing writing characters, as having a broad perspective is equally important.

Our topic is the five script styles this time, so we will go over very basic knowledge and features of each script style and evolution of Chinese characters over the long stretch of history.

For this online session, on top of me speaking, we will use a slideshow and a camera to show hand movement.

You’re encouraged to have a brush and paper (or a special water writing cloth that writes with water) handy, to follow the workshop even more closely.
