Step back in time near MRT Dongmen Station! Once abandoned Japanese architecture is getting a new lease on life. Thanks to the Taipei City Government's renovation project, many historic buildings are being restored.
Head to the intersection of Jinshan South Road and Jinhua Street. Here, a charming complex from Japan's colonial era (1895-1945) has been transformed. Stroll through a walkway lined with beautiful old buildings, ancient trees, and romantic lighting.
Built in 1905, this complex originally housed government workers from nearby Taipei Prison. As part of the Taipei City Department of Cultural Affairs' Old House Cultural Movement Plan, it was recently renovated and opened to the public.
After dark, the magic truly unfolds. Soft lights illuminate the traditional Japanese architecture, creating a delightful harmony with the natural elements of trees and stone. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing evening walk or to capture unique photos.
