World Literature Discussion: Stories of the Sahara

Read Around the World is a small monthly book club dedicated to exploring world literature.

This month’s pick is Stories of the Sahara, a semi-autobiographical collection of travel stories by Taiwanese author Sanmao, written while she lived in the Sahara Desert. It blends personal discovery, cultural encounters, relationships, and existential reflection — all told with humor, honesty, and depth.

We will be focusing on the first 100 pages or so, but attendees are welcome to read the full book if they have time.

We will meet on the 2nd floor of Vino Vino Café in Daan from 1:00-2:30PM on Saturday, 3/28/2026. Attendees are asked to make a purchase at the cafe for kindly hosting our event.

環遊世界閱讀」是一個小型的每月書籍討論會，致力於探索世界文學。

本月選書為《撒哈拉的故事》，這是台灣作家三毛在撒哈拉沙漠生活期間所寫的半自傳式旅行故事集。書中融合了個人成長、文化交流、人際關係與存在主義式的反思，以幽默、真誠而深刻的筆觸呈現。

本次討論將聚焦於前約100頁內容；若時間允許，歡迎大家閱讀全書。
