Taiwan Multimedia Tech #9

Taipei Video Tech 自 2018 年成立，5 年累積舉辦 8 場活動，參與人次超過千位產業專家與技術高手，並透過現場直播參與國際技術盛會，與全球 19 座城市串聯，攜手共創全球 24 小時影像技術社群直播馬拉松。

今年，將是個嶄新的一年，我們把 Taipei Video Tech 放大成 Taiwan Multimedia Technology！不侷限影像串流主題，擴至多媒體科技，結合 AI、動畫、影音等技術新知，持續探討科技趨勢，期許將 TMT 發展成多媒體科技指標性技術社群，讓世界看見台灣軟體實力。

本屆 TMT #9 主題 Icon 為「登機證」，我們並肩挺過了嚴峻疫情、盼到國門解封，不僅帶來報復性旅遊，也讓國際技術交流實體回歸，這次活動主辦單位也榮幸邀請到，來自日本的講者蒞臨分享，期待與各界專家一起互動交流。

Initiated in 2018, Taipei Video Tech has held 8 events in 5 years, with more than 1,000 industrial experts participated. We also joined in international video meetups through live broadcasts, connecting 19 cities around the world, and worked together to successfully conducte global 24-hour video meetup marathons.

This year, a brand new year, we will transform Taipei Video Tech into Taiwan Multimedia Technology (TMT)! Not just limited to the subject of video streaming, we will extend to multimedia technologies, including audio, video, animation, and even AI. The thematic Icon is the Boarding Pass.

We have survived the severe epidemic together and look forward to the unblocking of the country. Not just revenge tourism, but also the cross-region technology exchange will return. There are speakers from Japan, sharing topics and looking forward to interacting with you!

#1. Video Quality Assessment in Streaming, 高鈺婷 (Yvonne Kao), KKCompany

摘要：看影片時，偶爾會發生「影像畫質不好」讓人無法專注，甚至是想換片的情況，此議程將會介紹評估影片畫質的量化方式，以及畫質與串流服務間密不可分的關係，並拓展至未來可能的應用方向。

Sometimes, when watching a movie, there are situations where we want to switch because the video quality is not good. This session will introduce the Video Quality Assessment (VQA), the close relationship between video quality and streaming services, as well as future application direction.

#2. Designing a Playback Client for Large-Scale Live Sports Events, 五藤 佑典 (Yusuke Goto), CyberAgent, Inc.

ABEMA 是一家日本的免費廣告支持串流媒體電視服務，同時也迅速發展成為一個直播平台。該服務本身支援線上影片平台，每週有超過 3000 萬活躍用戶造訪。作為影片串流工程師，我們的使命是設計和開發一個播放器，以傳遞優質內容給大量觀眾，包括全球最大的體育賽事。在這場演講中，我將介紹我們為下一個階段作為線上影片平台所設計的新播放器。主題包括播放器如何幫助避免負載過重，以及我們打算在未來帶給它什麼新的功能。

ABEMA is a Japanese Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television service, but it is also rapidly growing as a live streaming platform. As its video streaming engineers, we have a mission to design and develop a playback client to deliver a large number of viewers all at once for live events including those of the world’s largest sports. In this session, I describe our new playback client for our next evolution as an online video platform. The topics include how the playback client helps avoiding heavy load and what we intend to bring it up for the future.

#3. Video Analytics with Takesato, 林 岳里 (Takesato Hayashi), NPAW

影音分析 (Video Analytics) 在改進和理解線上串產服務中扮演著關鍵的角色，通過收集和研究過去和現在用戶的數據，它將回答我們不少商業營運上的疑問。透過參與這個演講，你將了解執行影音分析可以如何有效的提升用戶參與度，並在多個設備上增加觀眾的留存率。我將分享多個實際例子來展示影音分析的強大功能。

Video Analytics plays a crucial role in improving and understanding online media services by collecting and studying data from past and present users. Join this session to learn how implementing video analytics can effectively improve user engagement, and increase audience retention across multiple devices. Various real-life examples will demonstrate itself the power of Video Analytics.

#4. Music Streaming Player - A guide to DRM and cross-platform development issues, 吳建勳 (Ben Wu), KKCompany

分享在構建前端音樂串流播放器時遇到的痛點和解決方案。像是針對 Mac, Windows, iPadOS, Android 等所使用的 DRM 決策，以及 Chromium 陣營及其他陣營的瀏覽器上針對音檔播放時的處理細節。

Sharing the pain points and solutions we encountered when building front-end music streaming players. The solutions include DRM solutions for Mac, Windows, iPadOS, Android, etc., as well as details on how to handle audio playback on Chromium-based and other browser-based platforms.
