Northern Thailand Tea Trip Sharing Session in Kaohsiung

Details
Dear beloved guests,
After a tea-making adventure in Thailand, the founders of 貴德緣 Guide Tea Room, Gawin and Jack are excited to invite you to a special sharing session at our tea space. During the tea session, we will share our experiences in the primitive village of Inner Doi Pumuen in northern Thailand, Chiangmai Province.
Located within a National Park, Doi Pumuen is known for its lush natural beauty, situated at 1,100 meters above sea level. The park is a protected area featuring dense forests, waterfalls, diverse wildlife and it is settled by the Lahu ethnic community who mainly rely on growing tea and coffee as livelihood.
From the local cultural perspective to our observations of the tea industry's development, we will recount the entire tea-making journey, including describing tea gardens, and the process of tea-picking, withering, and hand-frying. We hope to give you a glimpse into the Thailand that we experienced, and together discuss the current status of the Thai tea culture, tea industry and the potential of Thai tea materials.
We will serve selected teas from Thailand, all made by the native tea trees of Northern Thailand (variations of the Assam varietal)
We will showcase two teas we crafted from Doi Pumuen, Chiangmai:
- Bai Mu Dan (White Tea) from plantation
- Hand-fried Oolong from wild cultivation
We will further introduce three teas made from big-leaf varietals from Chiangmai and Chiangrai provinces for you to get to know the taste of the ‘Thai’ native tea.
These five teas will be the centerpiece of our tea tasting, accompanied by Thai tea snacks.
Cost per person: 1000 TWD

About 貴德緣 Guide Tea Room Hosts
Gawin is a Thai-Swedish tea lover whose multicultural identity has inspired his exploration of tea and culture abroad. Despite maintaining a steady tea-drinking habit while living overseas, he found this insufficient to satisfy his curiosity about flavors, culture, and even his sense of identity. This led him to Taiwan which has a rich and mature tea culture, to embark on an immersive journey of tea tasting, brewing, and tea production.
By chance, Gawin met his co-host, Jack, a native of Tainan and a theater practitioner with over three years of experience in physical and emotional work in the theater, carrying a deep sense of care for people. He ultimately decided to devote himself to the realm of tea culture and its flavors, sharing this passion with every friend at tea gatherings.
Gawin and Jack met at a teahouse on Yongkang street. What began as a casual meeting grew into a shared learning journey. Together, they explored tea tasting, tea studies, and eventually undertook the physically and mentally engaging experience of producing teas.
We look forward to meeting you at the tea gathering.
