What we’re about
In the hustle and bustle of everyday life sometimes it's hard to find the time to get away, let alone all the time to plan and organize a trip. That's what TIOA is for. We have a list of trips available and all you have to do is find the time to join us. If there is a trip you want to do, then let me know and I will figure out the logistics and post it. If you are a beginner and don't feel comfortable, or don't have the proper gear this is the perfect way to Take It Outdoors in a safe, fun and friendly way. If you aren't a beginner and are looking for a challenge; we have those trips as well.
When you come out on a trip you will find that TIOA is a fun loving community from all walks of life. Come on out and join the fun!!
See you soon!!
NOTE - A lot of planning goes into the trips we run. Please be considerate of all the members and the organizers of the group and do not be a "No Show". I know that sometimes issues spring up (family issues, medical, work, etc.) and that is completely understandable. In those cases please send a message saying you won't be able to make it. If you don't plan on attending, don't intend to mark it on your calendar or don't intend to make a best effort to come to the event please, please, please do not RSVP "yes" until you are ready.
Thank you much!!

Join us for one of our favorite sections of the Schuylkill River where we will paddle through narrow winding sections and even take a little ride down the infamous “Chutes.” We will paddle a total of 7.5 miles.
##### The “Chutes”
The chutes are a small feature where you will paddle through an old bridge and dip down about 1.5 feet into a calm flat water section. Our guides are there to assist you through this feature safely and easily.
##### Experience Needed?
You do not need to be an expert for this adventure. We ask that you have at least kayaked a couple of times and are comfortable paddling 7.5 miles spread out over a few hours.
##### Rentals?
Rentals are available through registration and our rentals always include a paddle and PFD.
##### Meeting Location
We will meet at the Port Clinton Launch which is located at, Schuylkill Street, Port Clinton PA, 19549.

Did you know there is more to kayaking than just paddling forward? There are a wide array of kayak strokes and techniques that help paddlers be in control of their boat. From sweeps to draws, being in control of your kayak helps you advance in your kayaking and it all starts with the fundamentals. Join us this evening as we review the basics, learn more advanced techniques and have fun paddling on the water. This class is the first step in TIO’s teaching/coaching for kayaking and leads to more advanced paddling classes like skirt clinics, moving water skills classes, self-rescue and much more.
##### Where:
Take it Outdoors
We will paddle on the flatwater on the Schuylkill in front of TIO’s rec hub.##### Who is this class for?
Beginners and experts alike will gain something from this class.
##### When
May 16th, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
##### What’s it like?
TIO uses principles of the American Canoe Association to teach. We prefer to demonstrate a skill, teach the skill, then allow participants to put it into practice and coach them along the way.
