Take a Hike! @ Bears Den

Make new friends and connect with old ones while hiking to Bear’s Den Scenic Overlook! This 4 to 5 mile out-and-back trek along the Appalachian Trail features a short but steady climb at the start of the hike with a total 285-foot elevation gain. Whether you're here for the scenery, the exercise, or the camaraderie, this hike is a perfect way to enjoy the outdoors with great company.

After enjoying the scenic hike, keep the adventure going with an optional visit to Bear Chase Brewing Company. Sit back with a refreshing drink, savor a delicious meal, and enjoy great conversation with fellow hikers in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Meeting Time & Location:
9:30 AM at the Harry Byrd Hwy Parking, located at the intersection of Leesburg Pike and Blue Ridge Mountain Road in Bluemont, VA 20135.

Distance: 4 to 5 miles

Elevation Gain: 951 feet

Difficulty: Moderate
This 4-5 mile hike has quite a bit of elevation gain (about 950 feet) and is a little more challenging than our typical hikes.

Estimated Duration
This hike is expected to take approximately 3 hours.

Pace: Relaxed/Moderate
We'll take a comfortable pace, allowing for pauses to enjoy the views along the out and back hike, mixed with moderate climbs.
