Take Better Travel Photos: Christian Science Reflections, People & Architecture

Details
Greetings Photographers,
The slower you go, the more you will see. Join us for this slow photography workshop.
Time to brush up on your travel photography skills. Hopefully we will all get to do some travel in the next few months so I thought it would be good to go to a spot in Boston where we can practice 4 different skills in one spot. Thank you Henry Gessau for your beautiful sample photo above from a previous class.
In this class we will focus on a variety of travel photography subjects:
Reflections
Architecture
People
City Scapes
See sample photos below in the album.
We will focus our cameras on the Christian Science Plaza for the lessons in this program. This is a great spot to learn to see the structures of composition like balance, scale, dynamic tension and other design elements that help you know what should go where when you compose the shot. If you plan to do any traveling on vacation this summer, the skills you learn in this class will help you go beyond snapshots. There are also several beautiful contemporary buildings surrounding the Plaza which provide stunning contrast to the stone work.
This is also a great spot for street photography if you want to practice your people skills. Lots of visitors to this area you can catch in action.
Christian Science Mother Church. Interesting compositional challenge with many angles, massive scale and integration into the rest of the city scape. We will do one entire exercise focused on this Romanesque and Byzantine-Renaissance style structure built in 1894. I know you have seen this building dozens of time but now you will be looking through the eyes of an artist to solve the visual puzzle of light and shadow placement to lead us into the image.
Learning to see creatively means slowing down to notice simple details right in front of you the have the potential to make a great photo. The things other people walk right by will suddenly jump out at you begging for your attention.
This is a beginner and intermediate level class with emphasis on creative composition. I will introduce specific visual puzzles for you to solve using new insights into composition.
You will have a chance to try these out right away with my guidance. You will receive individual coaching and critique while we are in the field shooting. This way you can be confident that you will be able to repeat the process next time you are out on a shoot.
This workshop is for you if:
• You are familiar with composition "rule of thirds" but not sure how to apply it to cityscapes and architecture. We will go beyond the rule of thirds in this workshop.
• You are attracted to the visual elements of color, pattern and texture but not sure how to best make them relate in the image.
• You would like to develop specific skills to improve your photograph while you have fun and meet like minded people.
We are going to have a great time! You have joined the group, now join the fun.
RSVP right away to hold your space. I am still keeping the class size small only 8 people please. There are public restrooms, parking and a T stop handy.
