Hone Your Creative Camera Skills: Charlestown Navy Yard Industrial Grit
Details
Greetings Photographers!
The art of noticing beauty in unexpected places is the focus on this workshop. During this beginner/intermediate photography class we will visit the Charlestown Navy Yard. Lots of opportunities for industrial shots, abstracts, and even city scapes. This is all about challenging your expectations and expanding what you think is photo worthy. See the samples in the album below.
We will spend the first hour photographing the gritty industrial Navy Yard and surrounding warehouses. This is a fascinating overlooked area tourists never visit. So even if you have been to Charlestown Navy Yard before, this is sure to be new territory for you to explore.
Then during the second half we may go on the ships but it is not the focus of the class this time. We are photographing the surrounding areas. PHOTO ID MAY BE REQUIRED SO PLEASE HAVE HANDY
I was thrilled with the photo opportunities I discovered on the far side of the docks. Great for macro and nifty 50 lens. And we will have incredible views of the Boston Skyline from that location as well. But I really love all the industrial equipment and materials in the Navy Yard. So much to photograph. Also good for black and white. See sample photos in the album
Some topics we will cover to make your photos more interesting:
• Creative composition including visual weight and dynamic tension
• Correct camera setting for proper exposure
• Using depth of field to create interest
