Debate - philosophy dialogue: Is Morality Universal or Contextual?

Details

Topic: In this event, we’ll tackle the question: Can moral rules be universally applied, or are they always subject to context? We’ll explore Kant’s belief in universal moral duties, independent of circumstances, and contrast it with utilitarianism, which argues that morality should be based on the consequences of actions. Join us as we examine whether ethical decision-making should follow absolute rules or adapt to the context of each situation.

Are there topics you've always wanted to explore or debate with others? Join us for a series of engaging discussions where you can share your views, hear new perspectives, and deepen your understanding of the world. As a philosopher traveling the globe to listen to diverse voices, I will guide our conversations in the spirit of Socratic inquiry: "I know that I know nothing." Together, let’s seek truth through thoughtful dialogue and open minds.
This event is held weekly, alongside other philosophical lectures—feel free to explore those as well!
