La Haine (1995- France)
Chosen by: Klaudia
It’s the 30th anniversary of Mathieu Kassowitz’s landmark black & white film. A movie which showed the disorder and discontent of inner city youths in the concrete projects of Paris, and exposed the simmering racial tensions in modern France. Over the course of a day, three friends face the consequences of a recent riot. The poverty, racism and police brutality they face, causes contempt and rebellion in the trio, but how will they react individually, can they fight a system rigged against them? This was the film made an international star of Vincent Cassell
