Prophetic Media: seeing the future before it happens online debate

in this online discussion we will talk about the different media that in hindsight appears to be "prophetic" in anticipating what's about to come.
how can (on occasion) writers and creatives anticipate the future with such accuracy?
Is predictive programming real or a myth?
is it the role of scifi media to "predict" the future? why or why not?

dissecting explanations from the most mundane/logical/rational to the most bizarre
(Mere coincidence? creatives being good at "seeing" where things are going? time travelers writing about the future? clairvoyance?
ESP/pre-cognition? predictive programming conspiracies? glitches in the simulation? and so on)
