Politicians want to be your daddy. We love to depict leaders as father figures, our paternal protectors, asking loyalty, obedience, and gratitude from us. Recently, conservative rhetoric has gone all in, calling the president "Daddy Don" and describing him as a stern father who disciplines his naughty children with spankings.
