SciSalon@BT: My Year in Prison
Blue Tavern, 1206 North Monroe Street, Tallahassee, FL, USCamilla Barry took a job teaching science to inmates at what was described as a low-security prison. Instead, she found herself leading a classroom in one of the most notorious prisons in Florida. Hear her story of bonding with her students and establishing an environment of trust while teaching the basics of science, reading and math over the course of a year. Join Tallahassee Scientific Society, Tallahassee Astronomy Society, and the Challenger Learning Center (CLC), for an informal workshop on how to use a telescope! The CLC will present the night sky in the newly renovated Fogg Planetarium followed by a moon viewing in Kleman Plaza.
