Join TSS for another splendid SciSalon@BT! THERE WILL BE FOOD TRUCKS. Jerry Lee, lead archeologist at the Mission San Luis, will enlighten us about what the people in the area ate. "Mission San Luis was one of the most important Spanish missions in Apalachee Province, the region between the Aucilla and Ochlockonee Rivers, during the Mission Period (1633 – 1704). The mission’s second location, occupied between 1656 and 1704, was purchased by the State of Florida in 1983. Since that time, extensive archaeological and historical research has given insight into many aspects of seventeenth-century life at the mission. Mr. Lee will share what we have learned about the diets of both the Apalachees and the Spaniards who lived at the mission for nearly 50 years."
