Details
Hello database friends, it's time to meet again!
The next Postgres meetup will take place on November 22nd in Tallinn, and we will start one hour earlier than usual: 18:00
This time we have a "testing special". Our host is Codeborne, a company that hires the best software craftspeople to work in an Extreme Programming setting. Over the past decade, they have become widely known for their expertise in proper and fast testing. We have asked them to share some of their experience with us, and they invited us to learn more.
Presentations:
- "Lessons learned in using Postgres in real-life projects" by Erik Jõgi, founder of Codeborne. This talk will share the experience we have gained in using Postgres in multiple projects. How to use it in automated tests. How to test triggers and views and other features. How to organise migrations. And a few other tips and tricks we have learned along the way.
- "Generating test data with Postgres" by Kaarel Moppel, Principal Database Reliability Engineer at Cognite. This talk will provide a brief introduction to the why's and how's of common Postgres test data generation techniques and tips for speeding things up.
Additionally:
- As usual, ~5-minute "lightning talks" are always welcome, even ad-hoc, without registration. Just coordinate with us (Kaarel, Ervin) on-site when you arrive.
- "Hallway track" - we will have a longer break to have the opportunity to socialize and discuss all things database/extreme programming/testing in a more relaxed way.
Location: Codeborne (Sepise 8).
Please note that outdoor footwear is not allowed in the venue.
