PGUG.EE November 2024 meetup

Hello database friends! Just in the nick of time, not to go empty on 2024 - it's time to meet again!

The next Postgres meetup will take place on November 27th 19:00 in Tallinn.

Our host this time at Lift99 Tallinn Hub is Cybertec, a PostgreSQL services company, so big thanks to them for making the meetup possible.

Presentations:

• "Patroni v4 & quorum commit" by Ants Aasma, Senior Consultant at Cybertec. The talk will shed lights on recent developments of the most popular HA manager in the Postgres ecosystem - Patroni.
• "Spot VMs and Postgres" by Kaarel Moppel, an independent PostgreSQL Consultant. This talk will explain what are Spot VMs, why one would want to use them and for what, what to expect from different cloud providers, and how one can actually run a stateful service on essentially stateless VMs.
• "When Autovacuum Met FinOps: A Cloud Romance" - by Mayur

Additionally:

• As usual, ~5-minute "lightning talks" are always welcome, even ad-hoc, without registration. Just coordinate with us (Kaarel, Ervin, Ants) on-site when you arrive.
• "Hallway track" - the usual opportunity to socialize and discuss
