Join us Friday, Dec. 12 for a fun community contra dance! This last dance of the year will feature Knoxville caller Deanna Palumbo and special lighting and pop music mixing by Asheville’s DJ TacoShel. 🎶✨ (Lights will change colors but no strobing.) See a video of last year's pop/techno contra dance with Deanna & DJ Tacoshel here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IlLnmWFOCU

Contra dancing is an upbeat, beginner-friendly social dance for all ages. It shares many moves with square dancing and is danced to live music in long lines. Bands and instructors ("callers") vary each night. No dance experience is needed and you don’t need to bring a partner. Arrive in time for the free Beginner Lesson at 7:15, and by the end of the night, you'll have danced with everyone in the room! There's a short break mid-way through the night for sharing snacks and socializing. Wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes.

Admission cost: $10 for Adults, $9 Seniors over 50, $6 for Students, Free for Kids under 12. Admission is payable by cash, check, or card at the door. Newcomers get in to their 2nd dance free!

Note on RSVPs: We have been contra dancing in Tally since 1982 with a wonderful and welcoming crowd. We are new to Meetup and utilizing a free organizer account for now, which caps attendees at 10. Waitlist registrants are welcome to attend and your guests do not need to RSVP—bring anyone who wants to have fun and meet new people!
