A vibrant, welcoming group where you can feel the pulse of the tambourine, master its lively rhythms and be swept into the sun-soaked energy of Southern Italian music.
The tambourine is a versatile instrument, with plenty of rhythms and sounds to discover from your first session.

Explore the captivating rhythms of Southern Italian folk tradition, from pizzica to tarantella It’s a chance to come together, meet new people and enjoy music in good company. This workshop is part of Alphabet Taranta’s wider programme, bringing folk musicians together to collaborate and create new events.

Nicola De Gemine and Mario Puorro (online from Italy), will guide us through the wonderful world of the tambourine. With progressive exercises, they’ll introduce its techniques, rhythms and expressive possibilities, drawing on the rich traditions of Southern Italy, including pizzica and tarantella. Whether you’re new to the instrument or already play, you’ll have the chance to learn, make music together and share the experience with others.
