Happy New Year!
To kick the new year off we'll be joining another edition of the Ethereum Tampa Meetup at Cowork Ybor.
This month, we'll be focusing on Ethereum fundamentals from hardware, software, and business model designs for building and deploying smart contracts and decentralized apps.
We have a full schedule lined up, so we can make the most of our time together.
Agenda:
1:00-1:30 Member Exchange and Introductions
1:30-1:45 Ethereum Overview: Smart Contracts, Dapps, and DAOs
1:45-2:30Hardware Hacking: Raspberry Pi Eth Node setup (Python, C++, Linux)
This session will focus on setting up your own Ethereum node and Ether mining operation in your home for under $50. I will be bringing a fresh Raspberry Pi board to the group meeting and we can go through the setup step by step.
If you have your own Pi that you want to setup, bring it along. If you want to order a new Pi (http://www.amazon.com/Raspberry-Pi-Model-Project-Board/dp/B00T2U7R7I/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1451745586&sr=1-4&keywords=raspberry+pi+2) you can get one shipped from Amazon to your doorstep in a few days. You will need to get a 32GB or larger microSD card.

(15 Min Break)
2:45-3:30 Co-Coding: Smart contracts with Solidity (JS): Creating your own CryptoCurrency
We will be following this three part tutorial (https://blog.ethereum.org/2015/12/03/how-to-build-your-own-cryptocurrency/) by Ethereum design lead Alexander Van de Sande.
3:30- 4:00 Lightning Round Pitches: Three 5 min Product Presentations with 5 min Q&A
FYI
Bring your laptops with Ethereum Wallet installed (https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases/tag/0.3.7)
**We need a few tech savvy volunteers. If you are handy with any of the above mentioned languages, we are still looking for instructors who can gently lead a co-hacking session with either Solidity or Serpent. **
If you have inspiration for a Dapp project and want to get feedback, please ping me in advance for the lightning round with a title and description of your idea.
Please RSVP so we can prepare properly.
