Raspberry Pi Meetup #4

Details
NOTE - Meeting Plan Updated: Ran into a problem with the sensor boards aren't ready yet, I think I have the solution (l will explain and give a demo at our Meeting) but it will take a couple weeks for the boards to come back from fabrication. I have the mounting boards cut out, if you haven't picked one up and have ordered it I'll have them at the next meeting.
In this meeting we will have four primary goals:
- Ensure everyone can control their mBot via the Raspberry Pi via WIFI
- Connect up compass that will be part of the sensor board (I will provide if you purchased a kit)
- Connect up an Xbox Controller to control the mBot via a PC
- Give our Raspberry Pi a separate power source.
I've updated the shopping list on the github site with the XBOX controller and an option for power.
See everyone Thursday
In this meeting we will build the sensor board that will attach to the expansion port of your Raspberry Pi. The expansion port will contain 8 IR proximity sensors and a compass to determine heading. If you haven't already paid, kits are $30 please let me know in advance if you need one.
For this meetup you will need a small soldering iron, some solder and a side-cutters. Prior to the meeting I'll update the shopping list with the tools necessary.
I'm going to finish the board layout over the weekend and place the board order early next week. It usually takes about two weeks to turn these around, so there is a small possibility we might need to push this meeting back. Let's hope not :)
