Web Scraping for fun and profit - at The Wave!

This month, Dave will lead us in a workshop to develop web scrapers using BeautifulSoup and Selenium.

There is more information on the Internet than any human can absorb in a lifetime. What we need is not access to that information, but a scalable way to collect, organize, and analyze it.

We will examine how to do this using Selenium and BeautifulSoup to scrape a website and collect the data we need from that site. A basic understanding of HTML and CSS is recommended.

You will get the most out of this event if you can bring:

• A laptop with python installed.

• If you can, download and install selenium (https://pypi.python.org/pypi/selenium), and beautiful soup. (https://www.crummy.com/software/BeautifulSoup/)
