Web Scraping Improv!

We've done web scraping recently, but this month Waqas will put a brave new spin on it by scraping in real time. Bring some ideas for web sites you would like to see scraped and he'll demonstrate it on-the-fly. If it goes well, we may be able to each work on a different website with his guidance and end up with a catalogue of scrapes.

Waqas' bio:

I am a seasoned Python Developer with vast experience in writing large scale data collection systems. I am the Lead Maintainer of an opensource python library - dateparser. Currently, working on an open standard for Solar Assets Data Exchange.

In this presentation 'Fast lane to Web Scraping' , we will live code a web scraper as I introduce you to scrapy lib. We will cover scraping ajax based website and web scraping best practices. After having finished your first scrapy scraper with me, you'll be good to harness scrapy's power to feed your data intensive idea or app.

You will get the most out of this event if you can bring:

• A laptop with python installed (and perhaps your favorite IDE)!
