List Comprehensions, Generator Expressions, and More
(Thank you for being courteous with your RSVPs so we don't buy too much/too little food.)
This talk/workshop will focus on capabilities and tool sets for list comprehensions and generators including hows, whys and why nots. We'll start with some basic puzzles to practice how to recognize when a simple loop can be converted to a list comprehension and build from there into nested comprehensions and the advantages and disadvantages of using generators instead.
Along the way, we'll learn a powerful tool set of functions that work especially well with comprehensions and generators. We'll see some real-world advanced uses and how you can apply them to your own code. Comprehension expressions make your code smaller, faster, Pythonic, and most important of all, beautiful! Join us and see for yourself.
Don't forget your laptop with Python 3.x installed!
Harvey Chapman, our speaker, has a background in embedded software and has been using Python for about 10 years. He uses comprehension expressions everyday and has learned a few tricks and best practices along the way.
