What we’re about

We meet within Julian B Lane Riverfront Park most Sunday mornings or evening from 9-12 or in evening at 4-6pm (weather depending/summer or winter). There's no need to bring anything...we have extra sets of boules for everyone to use. Hope to see you there!

Pétanque (pronounced "pay-tonk") originated in Provence, France at the turn of the last century. It's played with metal balls ("boules") and, like horseshoes and bocce, is easy to learn and fun to play. Petanque is played by people of all ages and is a great game for the entire family to enjoy together.

How it is played: Standing in the throwing circle, the object is to get your boules closer to the target ball ( the "jack") than your opponent's. On your turn, you can attempt to place the ball closer or knock your opponent's boules out of the way. The game can be played one-on-one or on teams of two or three.

Disclaimer: We listed bocce and lawn bowling because we thought you might be interested, but this group only plays the French version, pétanque. Come try it out and see if you like it.
