Thinking about switching careers to cybersecurity in your 40s? Come join us for a chat about making the leap.
Changing careers is hard. Doing it in your 40s—into an industry built on gatekeeping, jargon, and 22-year-olds who reverse-engineer firmware for fun—feels damn near impossible. This talk is about what it’s actually like to start from zero later in life. Telling the story of the struggles, small wins, and lessons learned from trading a stable exec role for an entry level position and a steep learning curve. A chat For those getting ready to take the leap or are already mid-fall.

What will the audience learn?
The audience will walk away with a real-world look at what it’s like to start over in cybersecurity in your 40s, without the fluff, false hope or promisies of a 6 month roadmap. They’ll hear about navigating impostor syndrome, battling burnout, and staying motivated when you’re the oldest newbie in the room. This talk pulls lessons from what worked, what failed, and how to push through when nothing feels natural. It also makes the case for why cybersecurity needs more career-changers, and how to bring your past experience into the field without apologizing for it.
