Learning ES6 with Alvaro Cruz

Details

ECMAScript is a standard for scripting languages; JavaScript is implemented by browser vendors according to these standards. There was a long wait period from ES5 to ES6 release: ES5 was published in 2009 while ES6 was published in June 2015, ECMA International decided to do annual releases from ES6 forward, therefore ES6 was renamed to ES2015. The new specification added new significant syntax to ease writing complex applications.

As part of this talk we will cover the following topics:

• Most of the features introduced such as arrow functions, const, let, for:of iterators, generators, class, etc…
• How to leverage these features in your day-to-day coding
• Compare ES6 code to ES5
• Browser support and how to use these features in browsers not supporting it
• ES7/ES2016 features (async/await) +
