Elite Hilly Ride, San Antonio

Details
Roll at 6:30 from the San Antonio Ballfields.
It’s time to get some hilly miles in our legs. To manage the heat, we will start early, and the longer routes will spend a portion of the ride on tree-covered trails (Friendship and Withlacoochee). There will be two options:
Option 1) 43-mile ride with 2,300 ft of climbing, a very traditional San Ann ride. Most of the major hills are included (Skyway, Ice Cream, 3-Sisters). A break is taken at the Speedway at Cortez and Spring Lake Hwy.

Option 2) 58 miles with 2,550 ft of climbing. A longer route but not much more climbing than option 1. Most of the additional miles are on the Friendship and Withlacoochee Trails. We will have a couple of breaks, one in Brooksville (Speedway at Cortez and Spring Lake Hwy) and a second in Trilby.

We will pace ourselves at 20 to 22 mph on flats (wind permitting). We will regroup after each of the climbs. Please be aware that you could be dropped if you cannot maintain the group’s pace. Please download the route for your safety. If you are uncertain if you can hang, take short pulls or skip pull(s). We would rather have you hang on to the group than drop. Note we will stop for all mechanical issues.
All riders are expected to ride in a pace line safely. New riders are expected to hang in the rear of the group to get acclimated. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time so the group can discuss the plans, introduce new riders and leave on time. Everyone rides at their own risk and this group assumes no responsibility for any injuries. Team Elite is not responsible for any injuries that may occur during any event we host. Paceline experience is expected if you want to attend this group ride.
