Elite Cycling Costa Rica: Climbing Day Rio Sarapiqui
Details
Elite Cycling is traveling to Costa Rica to do one good climbing day.
Today’s ride will be a trip along the edges of the Rio Sarapiqui with some serious climbs.
Sarapiqui is one of the most underrated regions in Costa Rica. It’s located in the northern part of the country, in Heredia province. It has beautiful winding rivers, dense green forest and so much wildlife. Sarapiqui is pretty close to San Jose, but still feels very remote and wild. This region has a lot of biodiversity and is one of the best places in Costa Rica for adventure activities in nature.
It should be a nice scenic route as we have a tour guide with us.
This is the route starting from our hotel: please download it to your Garmin’s or computers.

Alejandro is our tour guide.
There is no speed limit here because the terrain is so hilly & variable. We will try to keep the speed in the 19-21 range on the flats wind permitting and riders can pull 1-3 miles at that speed. BUT: Please do not accerate and/or attack any hills because we want to keep the group together. Be careful on the down hills, use the guide Alejandro to help steer your line on these decents along with your bike computers which will warn you of any acute turns. All riders are expected to ride in a pace line safely. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time so the group can discuss the plans, introduce guide and leave on time.
Everyone rides at their own risk and this group assumes no responsibility for any injuries. This is generally rural area with minimal traffic: We (May) have the van in front or back of us to assist with traffic. They will also have equipment for any mechanicals.
Team Elite is not responsible for any injuries that may occur during any event we host. Paceline experience and an appetite for adventure is expected if you want to attend this group.
