Trends in Middleware Platform(J2EE) Monitoring Automation

The buzz word "Automation" has become a necessity in every phase of application lifecycle. A stable environment is the foundation of a successful production application. There have been noticeable advances in the tools and technologies used to monitor application and infrastructure in J2EE Middleware space. It has moved from static threshold monitoring to dynamic threshold monitoring, auto-discovery, KPIs correlation, diagnostic data capture and ability to take remedial action immediately. The focus is on immediate root cause analysis and early prediction of potential issues that can make the environment unstable.

In this session we will explore niche features of monitoring tools such as AppDynamics that makes it different from its predecessors. We will also talk about the potential of AI (Artificial Intelligence) technology in the field of application monitoring to get greater insight into business transactions and its performance.

About the speaker:

Logical thinker with strong analytical and collaboration skills noted for implementing business process changes and translating business ideas into technology solution that successfully drive business strategy. Extensive experience in building successful cross-functional teams in a matrix environment, with recognition for delivering complex enterprise projects and initiatives.

Managed global Risk Technology program for Deutsche Bank’s Asia Pacific region for all risk classes (credit, operational and market risk) across business lines. Built global IT service and implemented continuous service improvement framework to provide 24x7 infrastructure, application development and support for IT program using global service delivery model. Currently responsible for managing Citibank’s global Production Assurance program of Citi Developers Tools (best-in-class Agile enabled ALM/SCM, CI/CD, Release Management, Code quality and security toolset) and middleware-JEE technologies.

Professional Interests:
I think that enterprise IT development and support for large enterprise “doesn’t have to complicated”. Hence I spends much of my time thinking about lean/agile software development methodologies, DevOps, architectural principles/patterns/practices, and programming paradigms, in an attempt to find the perfect storm of techniques that will allow corporate IT departments to not only function like startup companies, but also create software that delights users while maintaining a high degree of conceptual integrity.
